Description: The Legion, led by its band, marches up to the front of the cathedral at Puy-les-Volontaires for a mass. The Legion in the main square at Breuil holds a review before its leaders while a number of civilians watch. The officers of the Legion place a wreath at the foot of the statue of Lafayette, who fought alongside the Polish warleader Kosciusko. The Meuse is flooded over a wide area. Soldiers and horsed transport moves past camouflaged screens on the road near Fleury. In response to an alert the guncrew of a 75mm field gun rushes out of its dugout and opens fire, bombarding the far slopes. Near Chambrettes two officers review the position with a map, while soldiers carry duckboards or punts and cut wood. The shattered remains of Caurières Wood are shown. In the second line barbed wire is made into loops and defences set up.First a view of the outside of the conference chamber, then the delegates arrive. The Italians are led by Prime Minister V E Orlando, the Americans by General Pershing, the British by Lloyd George with Colonel Hankey beside him. Clémenceau meets them with Foch, who goes on to inspect a guard of honour. (Camerawork very bad, no clear shot of anyone.)
